Katherine Colburn
Katherine Colburn received her Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance from the University of Miami in 1997, and her Master's degree in Cello Performance from George Mason University in 2009. She has served as a cellist with the Prince William Symphony, American Festival Pops Orchestra, Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra, Manassas Chorale, and has been a member of the National String Symphonia for nine years. Mrs. Colburn was also the founding member of the Manassas String Quartet in 2003 with whom she recorded two CDs under the Lionheart Music East label.
Performing has always been a big part of Mrs. Colburn's life, but her true passion is teaching other string players and passing on her love for the art form. Mrs. Colburn started teaching private cello lessons in 2009 which grew into her opening up the Prince William String Academy in Manassas, VA in 2016. Mrs. Colburn has been an adjunct professor of cello at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA since 2018.
She resides in Manassas, VA with her husband and twin daughters, Addison and Brynn.
