Anthony Shields
Born into a musical family in Baltimore, Anthony C. Shields started playing the violin at age eight. Throughout the early years of developing his craft, he studied with a number of noted teachers in Maryland including Rhadi Santos, Linda Molina, and Matthew Horowitz-Lee at Peabody Conservatory. Anthony received his Bachelors in Music Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory, where he studied with Akemi Takayama, Concertmaster of the Roanoke Symphony, and Oleg Rylatko, Concertmaster of the Washington Opera.
Anthony has served as a section violinist for the NSS since graduating in 2014. He also has performed along with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony as a section violinist under the baton of Maestro Julien Benichou.
When not performing, Anthony is an avid and passionate teacher of violin and viola. With more than five years of teaching experience, Anthony strives to share his knowledge of music with students of all ages privately as well as in group settings, at all levels from beginner to advanced in the Baltimore County area.
